2. What event(s) between 1850 and 1860 do you think are most responsible for leading the nation into the Civil War? Why?
3. Could the Civil War have been avoided with additional compromise between North and South or if different actions were taken at different junctures by politicians and individuals throughout the 1850s? Explain.
4. Was John Brown, in your estimation, an "Ignatian Knight" and martyr OR a "crazed lunatic and zealot"; neither or both? Explain.
5. Could you imagine a similarly emotionally charged and politically polarized divide at some time in the future of our nation that could lead us to a Civil War II? Keep in mind that the division does not have to be necessarily geographical. Speculate and explain.

I think that the North was at more fault for starting the civil wasr because they were always pressing to get rid of slavery and not let it happen in new territories. They are also the ones who wrote the Comprimise of 1850 which i belive had a big impact on starting the war because of both sides having citizens reject pars of the plan causin an uproar to begin.

I don't think anyone is at fault. It was meant to happen some time. There was no way way of getting around it. The North wanted to get rid of slavery because it is morally wrong, and the South wanted to keep it because it was the central point of their economy. The southern states seceded because they believed that they willingly joined the U.S so they could leave whenever they liked.
